Description
Giveaway Checkers flips everything you know about regular checkers upside down. The goal here isn’t to win—it’s actually to lose all your pieces before your opponent does. It’s interesting because this reversal makes you rethink every move, sometimes twisting your brain a bit if you’re used to classic checkers logic.
You can play against the computer, a real person online, or just someone sitting across the table. There’s a nice selection of time controls: want to think forever? Go for unlimited. Or maybe crank up the speed and try bullet mode—those rounds get frantic fast.
Eight difficulty levels too. Beginner is as gentle as you’d hope, but World Champion… not so much. Helpful move suggestions pop up as you play, which is handy for newcomers or honestly anyone who forgets what’s legal mid-game (guilty). If you make a blunder—or just get distracted—you can take it back with the undo feature.
A quick pause: that option saves nerves sometimes more than strategy.
There are some lighter touches too. Cartoon emotions for reacting to plays, and interactive tips if you want them (or ignore them entirely if not). You can also save and resume games wherever you left off, which I appreciate when life interrupts. So it’s challenging and tactical but remains accessible for casual board game fans—not just puzzle enthusiasts.

I gave Giveaway Checkers a spin out of curiosity because I thought I knew checkers pretty well—but this was something else entirely. The idea of trying to lose all my pieces first is weirdly stressful but addictive too; it had me second-guessing moves way more than normal checkers ever did. Sometimes I found myself getting stuck in old habits though, trying to win instead of lose—that part really matters, really.
The different time controls felt good, especially blitz when I wanted quick matches without thinking too hard. Undoing moves saved me from some laughable mistakes (and there were more than a few). One thing I'd like improved—the cartoon reactions were fun at first but got old after a while.
Well, it doesn’t have that tournament seriousness—which is probably the point.
