Description

Handslap takes that classic schoolyard slap game and puts it right on your screen, simple as that. It’s always two players—there’s a red side and a blue side, and honestly, picking which side you start with almost feels like part of the mind games. One of you attacks by slapping; the other tries to dodge at just the right moment. If you dodge well enough, you swap roles instantly, so there’s barely any downtime. The pace can be pretty surprising too—it goes from careful timing to frantic clicking before you know it. Points only come when the attacker lands a successful slap, so sometimes people get way more invested than they expected. Actually makes you laugh if you’re with friends. To win? Just get ten points before your rival does. There isn’t much to learn—the controls are literally just clicking or tapping when it’s your turn—but weirdly that makes everyone focus harder on their timing. Which, well, leads to some hilarious fails and unexpected comebacks. Not really made for solo players at all—this is about competition and reading your friend across the screen (or maybe arguing over who flinched first). Great if you’ve got five minutes or need to settle some friendly score.

I played Handslap with my brother last weekend—not something I expected to enjoy this much as an adult but here we are. It’s silly and quick; one second I’m poised for a perfect slap, next I’m jumping my hand off the mouse because he outguessed me again. The best part is how quickly everything turns around—if you hesitate for even half a second it feels like a disaster (and sometimes that’s funny too). Honestly though, after a few rounds it can get repetitive if neither of us pulls ahead fast enough—it definitely works better in short bursts rather than marathon sessions. Still, there’s something satisfying about landing that tenth slap first… So yeah—it’s fun but very basic; don’t expect bells and whistles.
